About The Position

This position will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and creation of tooling across the facility critical to keeping production running. Eligible candidates may be subject to an interview and/or an aptitude test to determine candidate qualification for the position.

Requirements

  • Professional communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Five or more years’ experience.
  • Ability to make precision tools/dies, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts from raw material to finished state.
  • Ability to setup (Including servicing progressive, pierce, and form dies, etc.) utilizing conventional machines such as surface grinders, lathes, mills, jig borers, saws, hand tools, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot die performance in the press and adjust die/press (changing number stamps, cutting and form details, etc.) to achieve production parts per print.
  • Ability to verify and correct die timing while recording all service and modifications.
  • Ability to do layout work, create and utilize prints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan and execute proper sequence of fabrication operations to achieve desired final product.
  • Ability to use gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other various measurement equipment to verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of both tools and finished parts to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Good working knowledge of specifying proper materials, grades, heat treatments, and coatings for desired applications.
  • Initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to produce high quality work on tight schedules.
  • Willingness to work odd hours.
  • Ability to work closely with and assist Dayton-Phoenix Group salaried and hourly personnel as well as outside contractors and maintain a good working relationship with all.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands or arms, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch/crawl, talk/hear, taste/smell, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds with coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces (in, above, and under machines, equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE (gloves, breathing masks, aprons, safety glasses, steel toed footwear, etc. provided by company).
  • Ability to work with solvents, industrial chemicals, and lubricants to service tools and dies.
  • Must utilize work order and logging system to document work performed.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and material handling equipment (cranes, hoists, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Ambition, staying on task, and adhering to company policies (safety procedures, etc.).
