About The Position

Under minimal supervision, lay out and construct tools from Tool Design, Engineering drawings and/or hand sketches. Perform the necessary calculations of the material needed to do the job. This role is responsible for setting up and operating tool shop machinery and equipment to fabricate and assemble quality tooling. The position involves performing calculations for materials, speed, and feeds, and utilizing precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications. Additionally, the Toolmaker II assists with tool prove-out, is responsible for the repair and maintenance of tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists, and test equipment, and conducts visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling. The role also requires compliance with safety regulations, maintaining an orderly work area, and operating carts and forklifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years machine shop experience and/or machine shop training at a Vocational Technical School.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Must have a good understanding and ability to apply shop math.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Conventionnal machining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate tool shop machinery and equipment to fabricate and assemble quality tooling from Tool Design, Engineering drawings and/or hand sketches.
  • Perform calculations of materials needed and the speed and feeds required on all of the machining functions.
  • Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; check own work for conformance to specifications.
  • Assist with tool prove out on new and reworked detail tooling.
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of tooling fixtures, scaffolding, dollies, hoists and test equipment.
  • Responsible for conducting visual and periodic inspections and proof loads on tooling.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Operate cart and forklift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
