About The Position

This position reports to the Weld Fabrication (Fab) Group Leader and the Tooling Manager and is responsible for the fabrication of all needs that occur in the daily routine in the Tool Room, Maintenance, and the Press room. The role involves all-around welding, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, as well as brazing, silver soldering, and operating oxygen and acetylene cutting torches. Fabrication responsibilities include starting from sketching to a finished project, finding new and better ways to perform operations, troubleshooting issues, teaching others welding operations, installing fabricated items, and performing repairs on any in-house equipment. The position requires setting up equipment for proper material usage and may require a flexible work schedule and/or overtime based on company needs.

Requirements

General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.

Vocational and or Technical training in the welding field is a plus.

Responsibilities

Welding - All around welder. Appropriately knows what welding operations to use and when. (Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Tungsten (TIG), and Stick)
Welding- Brazing mill steel, cast, etc.
Welding- silver solder- tips and various metals.
Welding- Oxygen and Acetylene cutting torches properly use and performed.
Fabrication- Start to finish operation. (from sketching to a finished project).
Accurately finds new and better ways to do the operations, successfully see future problems.
Accurately trouble shoots issues that is encountered.
Professionally teaches others in welding operations.
Precisely installs jobs that are fabricated in house or through outside equipment.
Safely operates different equipment to install fabricated items.
Effectively being knowledgeable of press operations, to perform proper installations.
Accurately performs any repair job for any equipment in- house: welding, disassemble, etc.
Precisely set up equipment in area for proper setting for the material being used.
Participate in and support lean manufacturing programs and principles with a focus to reduce costs with quality product such as Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Suggestion System, etc.
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement to continually strive to improve our processes and procedures.
Adhere to 5S: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
Employee is responsible for complying and supporting any environmental policies and programs put in place by Batesville Tool & Die, Inc. (BTD).
Employee may not bring any environmentally hazardous substances or compounds into BTD and is always conscious of the impact on the environment.
Support and adhere to Technical Specification (TS) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) activities and procedures.
Perform any other duties as assigned with enthusiasm and without complaint.
