About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a global leader in aerospace innovation, proudly headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, since 1928. The Tool Service organization offers manufacturing, consulting, design and revision services for tooling. These tools are used for manufacturing, assembly and testing for programs in service and under development (NPI). As experts, we provide turn-key service worldwide to all Pratt & Whitney Canada production sites. We also work with OEMs, overhaul facilities, partners and other companies. As the intellectual property owner of our products, we are responsible for their technical support throughout their lifecycle. The tooling design department specializes in various types of tooling such as, manufacturing, assembly, test cell, gauging and measuring, modular, development, lifting and handling, cutting tools. This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Mirabel and performed exclusively on-site.

Requirements

  • College diploma and/or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably tooling.
  • Experience and knowledge of Catia V5 software
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M standard or other similar drawing standards
  • Specialized knowledge directly related to one of the tooling types.
  • This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a very good knowledge of English to read and understand, on a daily basis, documentation and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Design tools that meet design standards and are safe, functional, and producible, with or without reference.
  • Analyze customer requests assigned by the group leader to offer the customer appropriate and effective solutions.
  • Produce 3D design and detail drawing.
  • Perform design reviews with internal customer.
  • Support the various projects of the engine assembly and manufacturing lines.
  • Participate in problem-solving sessions, project follow-up and technical and brainstorming.
  • Make technical recommendations, when necessary, to project managers to optimize the design.
  • Analyze and disposition non-conformities following tool inspection/reinspection.
  • Participate in tool validation during tool try-out (as needed).
  • Provide user training on the use of tooling (as required).
  • Analyze and take action on non-conformities following tool inspection/reinspection.
