The Tooling & Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, tooling, and fixtures to support manufacturing operations. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment issues, manages tooling readiness, and helps ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. This position will report to the Production Manager. This position is located on-site in Foxborough, MA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; no specific educational requirement.
  • Must meet all state and federal age requirements for employment in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience operating wire cutting or wire processing equipment in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Ability to use automated equipment, hand tools, and measuring devices safely and effectively as part of the assembly process.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, counting, and measuring.
  • Basic computer skills for use of the production system; training provided by the company.
  • Close vision and color vision sufficient to identify wire, cable, and labeling accurately.
  • Comfortable using automated equipment and hand tools effectively and safely as part of the assembly process.
  • Detail oriented, with strong attention to accuracy when cutting, counting, measuring, and labeling.
  • Dependable and consistent in meeting production schedules and attendance expectations.
  • Team oriented and willing to support other departments as production needs change.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Willing to learn new equipment, processes, and tooling as the business grows.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and prepare manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, and workstations for production jobs.
  • Verify equipment is properly configured according to work instructions and production requirements.
  • Perform equipment changeovers and production startup activities.
  • Support relocation and installation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment and tooling.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and records of completed work.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic issues.
  • Repair or coordinate repairs of machinery, fixtures, tools, and facility equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
  • Work with external service providers and equipment manufacturers as needed.
  • Maintain and organize production tooling, hand tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Track tooling conditions and recommend replacement or refurbishment when necessary.
  • Assist with fabrication and modification of tooling and fixtures to improve production efficiency.
  • Ensure tools are available, properly identified, and maintained.
