About The Position

We are currently seeking a Tooling Engineer to support FTAI’s aeroderivative engine development program. In this role, you will play a critical part in the introduction of new engine components by designing specialized tooling, supporting new‑make parts, and providing manufacturing input early in the design process to ensure efficient and repeatable production. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with design, manufacturing, and shop floor teams on cutting‑edge engine programs from concept through production. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from an accredited university.
  • Between five (5) and ten (10) years of relevant industry experience in tooling or manufacturing engineering, ideally within aerospace or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with complex GD&T and applying DFM/DFA/DFX principles.
  • Familiarity with part and assembly quality inspection processes.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop specialized tooling for the manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and maintenance of aeroderivative engine components.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to ensure new part concepts are manufacturable and aligned with tooling and production capabilities.
  • Support the introduction of new part designs, including the development of fixtures, jigs, gauges, lifting devices, and shop aids.
  • Create detailed technical documentation such as CAD models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Validate tooling through fit checks, capability studies, and verification of compliance with engineering requirements.
