As a Tooling Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of molds and their associated peripherals (e.g., hot runners, ejector rods, switches) used in the injection molding process. You will ensure that all tooling is maintained to the highest standards to support product quality, minimize downtime, and extend equipment life. To ensure success in this role, you should possess strong knowledge of technical drawings, experience with 2D/3D CAD software, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Requirements

Strong knowledge of injection molding tooling, including molds and related peripherals (hot runners, ejector systems, switches, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Experience with 2D/3D CAD software for tooling design, review, and modifications
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Hands-on experience with mold maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices
Knowledge of tooling materials, machining processes, and mold fabrication techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with safety, quality, and production standards in a manufacturing environment
Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma theory and practices is desirable

Responsibilities

Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks to ensure a safe working environment
Responsible for managing the mold spare parts.
Maintain mold readiness according to production schedule
Demonstrated ability to disassemble and reassemble molding tools.
Clean, maintain and test molding tools and their peripherals for production readiness.
Experience working with basic measuring tools, e.g., pie tape, micrometers, calibers, pyrometer.
Support implementation of new injection molding tools and its peripherals.
Work with vendors to resolve tooling issues.
Quality orientation and high attention to detail

Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and superiors in all departments
Design and develop injection molding tooling systems, including molds, dies, and fixtures, using CAD/CAM software.
Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams to optimize part designs for manufacturability and ensure tooling specifications meet production requirements.
Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing personnel during tooling setup, operation, and maintenance.
Maintain accurate documentation of tooling designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends related to plastic injection molding tooling.
Manage capacity addition, process improvement and / or equipment replacement projects to include project SCOPE definition, costing, business case development, resource planning, timeline and execution.
Collaborate closely with project team to develop proposals of improvement initiatives including process, equipment and product improvements with relevant details such as scope of work, timelines, labor requirements, costs and return on investment.
Prepare and present detailed financial analysis including project budgets, ROI analysis and forecasts.
Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma theory and practices is desirable
Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
Good mechanical/ technical skills
Possess excellent leadership & teamwork abilities, and organizational skills
