Tooling Engineer - New Orleans Recruiting Event - February 2026 Company: Join Boeing’s Artemis team — build on a legacy at Michoud, “America’s Rocket Factory” Imagine your work directly enabling humanity’s return to the Moon and paving the way for deep space exploration. As a Tooling Engineer on Boeing’s Artemis program, lead in the development of the production systems and processes for the newest product to be added to the Michoud heritage, the Exploration Upper Stage. The Boeing Space Launch System (SLS) team is seeking multiple Tooling Engineers to join the team at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate, experienced and senior level tooling engineers. Boeing and NASA are building the world’s largest rocket for human exploration of deep space. The Space Launch System (SLS) provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space to enable diverse exploration, science and security missions. This position is for either first shift or a split-shift / 2nd shift (i.e. 12pm-8pm). Work shift and hours to be discussed during interview

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+ years of related work experience in Production Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
  • 1+ years of experience reading and comprehending engineering tooling drawings
  • 1+ years of experience with 3D modeling, analysis and simulation of production systems

Nice To Haves

  • Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited course of study in a STEM field
  • Experience with CATIA and CREO
  • Experience with product configuration management
  • Experience following the procedures of a production quality management systems
  • Experience with receiving requirements and writing outsource specifications leveraging industry standards and best practices
  • Experience developing mitigations and work-around plans in a manufacturing setting
  • Excels at operating in an extremely fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Willing to work alternating shifts, holidays, and weekends to support customer’s needs

Responsibilities

  • Supports the evaluation of program and project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System
  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates for equipment and tooling
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements
  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares
  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel
  • Develops and implements moderately complex work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation
  • Supports studies for disposition of assets
