About The Position

Imagine your work directly enabling humanity’s return to the Moon and paving the way for deep space exploration. As a Liaison Engineer on Boeing’s Artemis program, lead in the development of the production systems and processes for the newest product to be added to the Michoud heritage, the Exploration Upper Stage. The Boeing Space Launch System (SLS) team is seeking multiple Liaison Engineers to join the team at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate, experienced and senior level liaison engineers. Boeing and NASA are building the world’s largest rocket for human exploration of deep space. The Space Launch System (SLS) provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space to enable diverse exploration, science and security missions. This position is for either first shift or a split-shift / 2nd shift (i.e. 12pm-8pm). Work shift and hours to be discussed during interview. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Michoud site in New Orleans, LA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience with Material Review Board / Liaison Engineering (MRB / LE) Authority (including participating in Material Review Board and Integrated Product Team activities related to aircraft structures)
  • Willing to work alternating shifts, holidays, and weekends to support customer’s needs

Nice To Haves

  • Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of repair concepts including repair station processes, component repair concepts, procedures, and warranty processes and contractual agreements
  • Production Engineering Experience on the Space Launch Systems Program
  • Excels at operating in an extremely fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • NASA Site Access: This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • Safety Sensitive: This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Apply broad knowledge of Boeing design and engineering principles
  • Assess and resolve product and process issues through the product lifecycle
  • Develop and implement product and process improvement
  • Research of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by customer and design interim and final engineering solutions.
  • Lead development of interim and final solutions
  • Analyze, conduct root cause analysis, and develop dispositions for design non-conformances
  • Address complex nonconforming conditions and to detect deviations
  • Analyze reported problems for potential safety issues; recommend and manage complex resolution
  • Represent the engineering community in the build through post-production environment
  • Ensure supplier and build partner are compliant with Boeing standards
  • Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment
  • Support activities for on-site disabled product repair teams and accident investigations
