About The Position
Schaefer Plastics is hiring a Tooling Engineer to oversee mold approvals, builds, and trials. This role involves managing mold repairs, coordinating with vendors, and developing a preventative maintenance program. The manager will also work with production, quality control, and customers to resolve issues, supervise three mold technicians, and support R&D for product innovations. Ensuring safety and adherence to protocols is essential.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Must know Solidworks and 3D Drawings
- Must have tooling development experience
- Ability to travel as needed
Responsibilities
- Follow Mold Builds
- Approve Mold Designs
- Attend Mold Trials
- Work with manufacturing to get new molds into production
- Manage mold repair technicians by scheduling and prioritizing mold repairs and version changes
- Coordinate mold repairs with outside vendors
- Develop and maintain a mold-preventative maintenance program
- Communicate spare parts needs to the parts ordering person
- Work closely with production, quality control, and customers to correct quality issues
- Assist process technicians to solve mold problems
- Maintain a safe work environment and see that mold technicians follow safety rules
- Aid in the creation of specifications for projects
- Support and be a team member for R & D regarding Product design innovation for competitive gains in the marketplace
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts
