About The Position

The Tooling Engineer is an SBU role responsible for power tools, hand tooling, ergo arms, fixtures and miscellaneous production and maintenance equipment in a designated area of the assembly plant. This includes issuing requisitions for the work, following up with a PO and then coordinating the work with the management team. The role will work with Maintenance daily to put together Maintenance Work Orders (MWO's) and the ordering of the required materials to complete them, and following up on materials to make sure PO is issued, material received and delivered to the appropriate trades performing the work. The role will assist in shipping materials to other plants or suppliers as required and achieve the required number of targets such as Kaizen projects, MPI's and Safety tags each year. The Tooling Engineer will send out equipment for repairs and/or warranty and project detail sheets and justification for Non-New Model and for 5-year capital plan projects. The role will prepare Scope of Work (SOW) for major projects, Pre-bid meetings and capture minutes for major projects. The Tooling Engineer will work with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and others to develop tooling and process level requirements for new operations product or process; Design tools, equipment, and fixtures using AutoCAD; Work with other equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to source, design, build and install tooling and equipment; Order tooling and equipment; Write projects to replace, upgrade, or refurbish tooling and equipment; and Work with various disciplines to support World Class Manufacturing and make continuous process improvements. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that all equipment follows and meets and/or exceeds performance and compliance according to OSHA, Corporate Process Standards and MQGR requirements and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum TWO (2) years manufacturing engineering experience in tooling
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Access, and AutoCAD design software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be self-directed and willing to work any shift

Responsibilities

  • Issue requisitions for work, follow up with a PO, and coordinate work with the management team.

  • Order tooling and equipment.
  • Write projects to replace, upgrade, or refurbish tooling and equipment.
  • Support World Class Manufacturing and continuous process improvements with various disciplines.
  • Ensure all equipment meets or exceeds performance and compliance standards according to OSHA, Corporate Process Standards, and MQGR requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.
