The Tooling Engineer will provide input and direction in the sourcing, design, construction, PPAP, and launch of new tools, fixtures, and equipment for future programs and current changes. This role involves assisting Tool-Room personnel and/or vendors in solving production process problems, tool tryouts, and launching new programs. The engineer will also estimate, schedule, and execute engineering changes related to tooling and cost savings, coordinating these changes with various departments to ensure timely try-outs and phase-in periods to meet production schedules or customer delivery dates. Additionally, the position requires providing technical support for product development and design, utilizing technology to meet or exceed customer specifications, and staying informed about the latest tooling technologies. The role also involves establishing new and superior sourcing methods for new tooling to ensure capability and improve cost-effectiveness, assisting Program Managers with internal quotes, and working with production to implement Poka Yoke methods and with Quality Engineers to establish characteristics and achievable tolerances for SPC. Compliance with IATF Standards, OHSA legislative requirements, and environmental guidelines (ISO 14001) is mandatory. The employee must report any product or process non-conformance and maintain due diligence regarding environmental matters.
