About The Position

The Tooling Engineer Technician plays a key role in supporting the development, sourcing, and ongoing improvement of plastic injection mold tooling used in the production of our products. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and external tooling partners to ensure tooling designs meet performance, quality, and cost objectives. Responsibilities include coordinating tooling procurement, supporting design reviews, troubleshooting tooling issues, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across our tooling and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Tool & Die or equivalent hands-on experience in plastic injection mold tooling
  • At least 2 years of experience working with tooling design, manufacturing, or procurement in a plastics environment
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and CAD platforms such as SOLIDWORKS or Pro-E
  • Detail-oriented problem solver who takes ownership of challenges
  • Collaborates well with cross-functional teams
  • Motivated to improve processes, tooling performance, and overall manufacturing efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Tooling Engineer in validation of mold tool performance and procurement of tooling to cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Reviewing mold tool design and monitoring tool status to timeline
  • Researching and investigating alternate mold tooling technologies that reduce lead-time and cost
  • Assisting mold department for in-house implementation, as required
  • Participating in plastic component design to ensure best practice for lowest cost tooling
  • Soliciting ideas and strategies to reduce mold tooling procurement and production implementation lead-time
  • Contributing to NPD processes improvement
  • Being responsible for the application of all applicable mold tool documentation
  • Supporting the repair, rework, and servicing of existing tools with mold tool suppliers when requested
  • Ensuring team members are aware of targets and are actively supporting them
  • Surfacing abnormalities to standards and implementing countermeasures
  • Maintaining storage and file maintenance of mold tool drawings
  • Participating in department staff meetings and implementing initiatives
  • Surfacing problems while using PDCA to solve problems and drive improvements
