About The Position

The qualified candidate will provide mechanical engineering design and drafting to the Mechanical Design department using Creo MCAD tool and Windchill Common PDM. The candidate will perform mechanical design and some tolerance analysis and will assist in the construction of tooling and test equipment used in manufacturing infrared focal plane array packaging in a clean room environment. Tooling may include fixtures, jigs, test dewars and the like, used in manufacturing Focal Planes, vacuum dewars and uncooled vacuum packages. The candidate will work closely with manufacturing and/or process engineers to ensure that the tooling will meet requirements. The candidate will assist in the procurement and will work with the suppliers to ensure that the components meet the technical, cost and schedule requirements. The candidate will engage in technical discussions with internal customers.

Requirements

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Tooling design.
  • Experience working as a contributor to design teams.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing tooling for cryogenic electronic packaging and clean room protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Creo CAD tool.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering, principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of high precision optical alignment and assembly techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of Design-for-Manufacturability-and-Assembly (DFMA).
  • Knowledge of conventional and additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing form controls in accordance with ASME Y14.5M.

Responsibilities
