The Tooling Coordinator is responsible for activities within the Tooling Department, including cutting dies, print plates, and ink management. The role supports the production team by coordinating tooling needs for the Converting Department, prioritizing production demands and preparing tooling for upcoming jobs. Hiring is for second- and third-shift positions; training takes place on first shift before moving to the assigned off-shift. The coordinator maintains tooling areas, retrieves and inspects tooling from completed jobs, and returns it to its proper location. The role works with operators to track and repair red-tagged tooling and requires the ability to identify tooling that needs repair, replacement, or revision. The employee must be trained in cutting-die and print-plate construction and able to perform basic in-house repairs. The position also involves communicating tooling status and needs to supervisors, the superintendent, and management; keeping department areas clean; and completing special projects as assigned. The work takes place in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and usually loud noise. The job requires standing and walking regularly, frequent use of hands and arms, and the ability to lift and carry items, including overhead, and climb step ladders. The employee must be able to work independently, read digital scheduling tools, operate automated tooling systems, follow factory instructions, communicate by radio, and manage priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
