About The Position

This role is responsible for inspecting and managing tooling, including printing plates and cutting dies. The coordinator will ensure tooling is repaired, replaced, or revised as needed, maintain inventory, and manage associated documentation and purchase orders. The position also involves assisting with machine center coverage during vacations or as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Working knowledge of product quality specifications.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • 6 months experience in the Press or Finishing Department.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and recognize tooling that needs to be repaired, replaced, or revised.
  • Perform machine scheduled walk-throughs to verify planned items are at the machines and pull, inspect, and return other tooling to proper locations.
  • Pull a printing plate backlog once a shift, inspecting and staging items that meet requirements.
  • Pre-inspect and tag cutting dies once a shift, and pull and put away cutting dies as they are returned from machines.
  • Notify the Tooling Coordinator of dies or plates needing modification, repair, or replacement, and inform the Superintendent and Supervisors of tooling status.
  • Be responsible for all tooling PO's and maintain monthly tooling spreadsheets.
  • Check in all incoming print plates and assign print plate & cutting die #'s from the respective log books.
  • Keep up die spreadsheets and assign locations to all print plates, entering this information into HRMS.
  • Attach all supporting documentation and deliver it to the die room.
  • Be responsible for all outgoing tooling.
  • Order tooling and supplies when needed.
  • Assist in scanning print cards and cads in the system, if applicable.
  • Get quotes for tooling when needed.
  • Be responsible for all tooling bill of ladings that are sent out.
  • Fill in on all vacations on machine centers or as needed.
