About The Position

This role involves performing complex CNC milling and turning operations for tooling. The operator will be responsible for managing their assigned workload, preparing machines for operation, and ensuring the quality of their work. This position may require assisting higher-grade operators and may involve working with exotic materials that can create challenging conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma, equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Vocational certificate/diploma related to computer numerical controlled machining (if less than 1 year of experience).
Minimum of 1 year of diversified machine experience, including computer numerical controlled lathes or mills (if no vocational certificate/diploma).
Uses advanced shop math.
Proficiency with a variety of precision measuring instruments.
Ability to interpret blueprints.
Moderate computer skills.
Successful completion of all required training courses.

May be required to assist higher grade Operators.

Responsibilities

Plans, sets up, operates, and adjusts numerically controlled (CNC) milling and lathe machines to produce designed parts using various control media and program documentation.
Manages a working list of assigned jobs.
Prepares necessary adjustments to ready the machine for operation.
Selects appropriate tooling, cutters, and materials for machining operations, and improvises setups and material loading.
Maintains tooling, cutters, and material storage areas within the machining cell.
Assists and communicates when machine or tooling malfunctions.
Uses a variety of measuring instruments including micrometer, dial indicator, scale, various calipers, height gauges, and protractors.
Performs deburring, blending, and grinding operations as required.
Ensures the quality of own work.
Performs other related duties as required.
