About The Position

The person in this role plays a critical part in ACEMCO’s manufacturing process by operating and maintaining presses to produce quality metal components for automotive applications. The position supports production uptime by troubleshooting, repairing, building, and modifying stamping dies and other tooling, and by manufacturing and repairing components with toolroom machinery. The role requires attention to safety, product specifications, and effective communication with production and leadership about tooling issues and status. The work environment is usually moderately noisy. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

Four years’ experience with an approved trade school.

Experience as a welder in an automotive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Observe and comply with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and OSHA requirements.
Troubleshoot and repair stamping dies both in-press and within the toolroom to support production uptime.
Use knowledge of tool steels for repairs, welding (TIG/MIG), and new builds.
Spot or polish details, nest parts, and finish high-wear surfaces using die grinders.
Build, repair, and modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tooling using toolroom equipment and hand tools.
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts against specifications using instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Operate toolroom machinery, including mills, lathes, and grinders, to manufacture and repair components.
Use knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, sketches, and models.
Communicate effectively with production and leadership regarding tooling issues and status.
Complete additional functions not specifically outlined in the position description as directed by the supervisor or manager.
