About The Position

The Tool room Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the toolroom, ensuring seamless operations and support for injection molding molds. Collaborating closely with other production areas, they analyze tooling issues, provide timing estimates, and contribute to problem-solving efforts. Additionally, they actively participate in daily stand-up meetings to understand tool repair priorities, coordinate repair and preventive maintenance (PM) workflow with the tool room team.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in injection molding molds, with expertise in repair, maintenance, and refurbishment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose tooling issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Leadership capabilities, with at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work effectively to meet production schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with production teams and provide guidance to toolroom personnel.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and optimization of toolroom operations.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Journeyman papers as a mold maker or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role in a toolroom environment.
  • Extensive experience in injection molding molds repair, maintenance, and refurbishment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and best practices.
  • Detailed records of work that have been completed on all tools through ALS

Responsibilities

  • Leading and prioritizing repair, preventive maintenance (PM), and refurbishment of injection molding molds within the toolroom.
  • Utilizing extensive knowledge and experience in injection molds to efficiently diagnose and address tooling issues.
  • Coordinating with production teams to understand priorities & tooling requirements ensuring timely completion of repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensuring thorough PMs and repairs to ensure top performance upon delivery to production and to reduce production downtime.
  • Supervising a small team of toolroom personnel, providing guidance, prioritizing work with Production Planner, and ensuring follow-up on tasks.
  • Posting the Production Planners priorities, so toolroom employees understand the order in which the tools need to be addressed.
  • Collaboration with the Toolroom Manager to optimize operations and improve efficiency.
  • Conducting regular inspections of injection molds to identify maintenance needs and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assisting in the training and development of toolroom personnel to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Participation in problem-solving efforts to address tooling problems effectively and prevent recurrence of bad practices and minimize mistakes.
  • Maintaining accurate records of tooling repairs through ALS, PM activities, and refurbishment projects.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and ensuring a safe work environment within the toolroom.
