About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. The incumbent will set up and operate machine tools, perform progressive machining operations with close tolerances, and contribute to a safer and cleaner operation. Quality is a shared responsibility, and duties must be performed in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System.

Requirements

Must have CNC programming and operating experience.
Must have knowledge of setting up and operating all available machine tools.
Must be familiar with performing progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
Must be capable of determining operation sequence.
Must be able to skillfully use all machinist's hand tools and measuring instruments.
Must be familiar with working properties of all metals.
Must have knowledge of fitting and assembling where necessary.
Must be able to lay out work from drawing sketches or written instructions.
Must have enough hand tools to perform work.
Requires knowledge of advanced shop mathematics.
Will be required to work with minimum supervision.
Assumes various other duties as directed by the supervisor.
High School or equivalent education.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
Must have knowledge on simple computer programming.
Requires excellent measurement skills.
Ability to follow instructions from technical parameters.
Perform duties proficiently, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
Must have strong work ethic.
Must be able to work flexible schedules and hours.
Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
Must be able to work outside in a variety of conditions.
Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate.

Responsibilities

Conscientiously work toward running a safer and cleaner operation.
Ensure that all guards are always in place.
Inform the supervisors of any maintenance problems or suggested changes to equipment.
Carry through to completion without supervision the machining and fitting of all kinds of metal parts, tools, and machines.
Lay out work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
Set up and operate all available machine tools and perform progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.
Assume various other duties at the direction of the shift Supervisor.
Understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
