About The Position

As the Tool Room CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating 3-axis CNC Mills and other precision shop equipment to manufacture high-quality components used in the construction and maintenance of progressive stamping dies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring tooling accuracy, efficiency, and reliability in support of production operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience programming and operating CNC mills in Esprit or similar CAM.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with precision assembly methods and techniques.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with conventional machining experience is preferred.
  • Ability to program, set up, and operate a 3-axis CNC milling center to manufacture components to specifications provided by Toolmakers and Designers.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, and use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Experience in machining various types of steel, including mild, carbon, and alloy tool steels.
  • Familiarity with CAM software, specifically Esprit and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to program from both 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Some knowledge of Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about project status and challenges.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment that may frequently require pivoting between multiple tasks and adapting to accommodate shop priorities.

  • Communicate with other shop personnel professionally and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC milling centers to manufacture steel components according to specifications provided by Toolmakers and Designers. Develop and optimize machining programs, perform machine setups, select tooling and fixtures, and operate CNC milling equipment to produce precision steel components that meet design and tolerance requirements.
  • Operate conventional and TRAK mills, lathes, and surface grinders as required. Perform manual machining operations, secondary processes, and finish work using conventional shop equipment to support production needs and ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Other duties as requested.
