About The Position

The Tool Room Custodian is responsible for the organization, control, distribution, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and supplies to support maintenance, and operational activities. This position ensures that tools are properly stored, inventoried, inspected, and available when needed while maintaining accurate records of tool issuance, returns, repairs, and replacements. The Tool Room Custodian supports a safe and efficient work environment by enforcing tool accountability procedures, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating tool calibration, maintenance, and procurement activities as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience in: Tool crib/tool room operations.
1-2 years of experience in: Inventory control or warehouse functions.
Basic recordkeeping and data entry skills.

Nice To Haves

Vocational training in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, logistics, or inventory management preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Receive, store, and issues hand tools, machine tools, dies, replacement parts, shop supplies and equipment, such as measuring devices, in an industrial establishment.
Responsible for accurate record keeping of tools issued to and returned by workers, searches for lost or misplaced tools, prepares periodic inventory or keeps perpetual inventory and requisitions stock as needed, unpacks and stores new equipment
Visually inspects tools or measures with micrometer for wear or defects and reports damaged or worn- out equipment to superiors; may coat tools with grease or other preservative, using a brush or spray gun, and may attach identification tags or engrave identifying information on tools and equipment using electric marking tool.
