About The Position

The Toolmaker/Moldmaker Apprentice is responsible for working with the lead mold maker to assist in building new tooling per CAD or detailed prints, evaluate, maintain, and repair existing molds and production tooling while developing skills toward Journeyman-level proficiency. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.

Requirements

Enrollment in or willingness to complete a Tool & Die or Moldmaking Apprenticeship program required.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Basic understanding or interest in mold-building techniques and plastic injection molding.
Ability to read, interpret, and learn engineering designs and computer-based CAD plans and models.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good problem-solving skills and be detail-oriented.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Willing to obtain personal precision tools over time.

Nice To Haves

Prior forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist in building new tooling and components with guidance.
Identify and communicate any possible tooling problems to the lead mold maker or supervisor.
Work well with lead mold makers and learn from mold maintenance technicians and experienced toolmakers.
Operate tool room equipment with training.
Perform mold maintenance and assist with in-press mold changes.
Willing to work overtime based on production needs.
Work with QA to identify quality concerns.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
