About The Position

They are seeking a Tool Maker for the 2nd Shift at their Auburn Hills, MI Plant. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing tooling and machinery, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the facility. Requirements

Excellent verbal communication skills with strong aptitude for operating machinery.

Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
Clearly read, speak, and write the English language.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be able to clear drug screen and background check.
Must have reliable transportation.

Journeyman card
Hi-Lo Certification (will be trained and certified)
5 years of experience in tool and die in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

Using specialized tools to repair, design, and fix tooling and machines.
Troubleshooting and providing technical recommendations to management.
Verifying tools meet all safety and quality recommendations.
Reading and interpreting blueprints and design schematics.
Performing preventative maintenance.
Operating a hi-lo and reporting.
Following all applicable safety procedures to avoid injuries.
Proper handling of finished parts and products to avoid injuries or damage.
Following all operational instructions when operating or using tools and equipment.
Performing quality checks.
Following standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
Having vast knowledge and understanding of specialized tools.
Following safety protocol.
Basic computer experience.
Housekeeping while in between quality checks.
Production reporting.
Measuring and marking metal stock for machining.
Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems and performing repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
