About The Position

The Tool Maker I learns and performs assigned manual duties to build, repair, and maintain production tools, dies, and fixtures used in the operation of Indium machinery. Work is largely directed and performed under close or general supervision. The position is based at 5836 Success Drive, Rome, NY, and works Monday through Friday on the first shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Proven ability to operate standard tool room and/or machine shop equipment.
Ability to interpret dimensional drawings.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Basic to advanced math skills.
Basic organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with EDM.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, sharpeners, and grinders, to produce tooling.
Lubricate machines and maintain department equipment as needed to create required tooling.
Complete documentation to track work, record scrap, and maintain the accuracy of completed parts and required inventory.
Perform simple sharpening, CAD, and welding operations when necessary.
Work with and manipulate different tooling while minimizing scrapped parts.
Use support tools and equipment such as micrometers, gauges, lathes, dies, and hand tools.
Read and interpret simple drawings and diagrams with assistance.
Maintain a steady work pace and follow a schedule.
Maintain a clean work area.
Uphold standards needed to maintain business certifications and associated quality standards and practices.
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
