About The Position

HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Tool Maker A to join one of our valued client partners. We are seeking a precision-focused manufacturing professional with extensive manual machining expertise, strong tooling knowledge, and the ability to build, modify, troubleshoot, and repair complex tooling used in high-performance manufacturing environments. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Tool Maker who takes pride in craftsmanship, thrives in a hands-on manufacturing setting, and enjoys solving complex tooling challenges while collaborating with Engineering and Production teams. The Tool Maker A will be responsible for planning, constructing, modifying, repairing, and troubleshooting tooling, fixtures, jigs, prototypes, and specialty components used throughout manufacturing operations. This position requires advanced machining capabilities, blueprint interpretation, tight tolerance work, and the ability to operate both manual and CNC equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of manual machining experience.
  • Extensive manual milling machine experience.
  • Extensive manual lathe experience, including threading operations.
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience holding close and critical tolerances.
  • Basic trigonometry and shop mathematics skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting and modifying tooling.
  • Ability to perform complex tool building and repair assignments.
  • Ability to pass the Tool Maker A written examination.
  • Ability to pass the Tool Maker A physical assessment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • No current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Planning machining assignments and determining proper manufacturing sequences.
  • Building, modifying, and repairing tools, fixtures, jigs, prototypes, and special components.
  • Performing complex manual machining operations with close tolerances.
  • Operating manual milling machines and manual lathes.
  • Setting up and operating CNC and EDM equipment.
  • Performing threading, grinding, fitting, lapping, heat treating, and tempering operations.
  • Conducting tooling tryouts and resolving performance-related issues.
  • Troubleshooting tooling problems and recommending process improvements.
  • Collaborating with Engineering to resolve design concerns and improve manufacturability.
  • Developing engineering models from drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Utilizing precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Assisting with the training and development of junior tool makers.
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
