About The Position

The Tool Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of tooling, packaging machinery, and production equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role is essential to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, supporting production schedules, and maintaining safe, efficient manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will install, maintain, calibrate, and repair tooling and packaging equipment while working closely with production teams, maintenance personnel, and supervisors. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to equipment maintenance to ensure continuous production and product quality.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely operate a forklift
• Computer literacy and basic recordkeeping skills

Nice To Haves

• Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical systems, electrical systems, or tool maintenance preferred
• Previous experience as a Tool Maintenance Technician, Tool Technician, or Maintenance Mechanic preferred
• Experience working in manufacturing, production, plastics, packaging, or industrial environments preferred
• Strong knowledge of tool maintenance principles, repair procedures, and troubleshooting techniques
• Familiarity with calibration procedures and precision measuring instruments
• Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, and schematics
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and maintenance documentation
• Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• Ability to remain in a constant state of alertness while working safely in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot tooling, packaging machinery, and production equipment to identify wear, damage, and performance issues
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices
• Perform routine maintenance activities including cleaning, lubrication, adjustments, inspections, calibration, and minor repairs
• Ensure packaging equipment and machinery are properly calibrated to maintain product quality and consistency
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete repairs promptly to reduce production interruptions
• Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements
• Identify and report equipment hazards, failures, and unsafe conditions
• Monitor tooling inventory and identify spare part requirements to maintain operational readiness
• Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely replenishment of maintenance parts and supplies
• Maintain organized, secure, and properly labeled tool storage areas
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, calibration results, and equipment history
• Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams to minimize operational disruptions
• Operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials as required
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and productivity
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
