About The Position

The 2nd shift - Tool Inspector Lead will drive product excellence and customer satisfaction by ensuring every shipment meets the highest quality standards. Lead and support comprehensive inspection efforts, including precise dimensional verification of components and assemblies, thorough review of quality documentation, and hands-on witnessing of product testing. The 2nd shift - Tool Inspector Lead will also conduct detailed visual inspections while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and external suppliers to resolve issues and elevate performance. Serve as a trusted quality liaison by collaborating directly with customer inspectors, providing technical guidance, and championing continuous improvement across the entire production lifecycle, all in a fast-paced, second-shift environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years inspection related experience and/or training, preferably in the oil and gas industry
  • Familiar with, and knowledgeable in the use of, the typical measuring tools used for mechanical inspection such as dial calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, optical contour projector, hard gauges and Gage maker Mic-Trac system.
  • Familiar with current health, safety & environmental (HSE) training as per division training matrix (including regulatory and SES required courses).
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe operations.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, including programming used for Quality Control and Inspection activities.
  • Applicable PPE required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Must have a working knowledge of high school mathematics including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Familiar with Quality Systems and requirements.
  • Familiarity with the products being manufactured.
  • Reading and understanding specifications and other work-related documents.
  • Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, diagrams, sketches, and / or specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assign inspectors to accomplish the inspection function in the shop that they have responsibility.
  • Provide input for the Inspectors performance reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation of Quality Plans.
  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of new and rental product.
  • Perform functional tests on piece parts.
  • Perform inspection of assemblies.
  • Perform visual inspection of components and assemblies in accordance with applicable documents.
  • Work with customer inspectors in the examination of product.
  • Perform simple calibrations and maintain records for various tools, instruments, and gauges used in the manufacturing and inspection processes.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations in the investigation of product failures.
  • Assist outside suppliers with problems related to subcontracted parts.
  • Train other Inspectors in the proper performance of their activities.
