About The Position

FN America, LLC is seeking a Tool & Gage Technician I to plan and machine new fixtures, gages, and prototype parts in support of operations. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing production fixture issues to minimize downtime and working on moderate to complex projects while pursuing journeyman accreditation. The company is a U.S. subsidiary of FN Herstal, S.A., a global leader in firearms manufacturing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five years of experience in manufacturing, CNC, and fixture building is required.
  • Proficiency in 5S & lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Ability to program, set-up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machines.
  • Strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment.
  • Solid math skills and knowledge of sophisticated measuring and testing equipment.
  • Strong Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures.
  • Enterprise Applications Software (ERP), Microsoft Office, Knowledge of Auto CAD, PEPS, PT4, & CREO view systems.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in machine tooling is preferred.
  • Emphasis on learning Master CAM.

Responsibilities

  • Works on moderate complex fixtures, gages and prototypes.
  • Plans and processes projects with technical assistance.
  • Plans, sets-up and operates tool room equipment to machine components to 2D drawings and/or 3D CAD models print specifications.
  • Analyzes assignments and establishes efficient processes to fabricate any gage or fixture using tool room equipment.
  • Inspects, records and analyzes the quality of any part being produced, using various inspection equipment.
  • Responds to emergency work order requests from manufacturing, troubleshooting and ensuring a speedy remedy to keep production going.
  • Works closely with engineers in the development of new processes and prototypes.
  • Develops Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programs, sets-up and operates a variety of CNC machines with support of CAD systems.
  • Works on pneumatic and hydraulic systems as they relate to fixtures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
