About The Position

AriensCo is recruiting for a motivated and passionate Tool & Die Technician for our location in Fayetteville, TN. This role involves studying blueprints, assessing the condition of stamping tooling, setting up and operating machine tools, fabricating parts, and assembling and repairing dies. The ideal candidate will possess basic problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and work to tolerances as close as .001.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • General mechanical aptitude - to comprehend, and understand dies and fixtures, and the ability to disassemble and reassemble this type of tooling is necessary.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and act using basic mechanical blueprints is required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
  • Basic PC skills - should possess basic PC understand and operating skills.
  • Knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word or Excel is required
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or experience in operating various hand tools such as air wrenches, grinders, and sanding equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints of die and product, die models, templates, and prototype parts and visualizes shape, mechanical structure, and operation of tool
  • Assesses condition of stamping tooling and determines what if any action needs to be taken to improve its operating condition
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, radial drill presses, surface grinders, welders and punch grinders to machine parts to specifications, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
  • Operates surface grinders to ensure stamping dies are sharp and ready for production
  • Fabricates carts, jigs, and fixtures as requested by ancillary departments
  • Lifts machined parts and positions them for assembly on worktable or surface plate
  • Smooths flat and contoured surfaces and fits parts to each other
  • Verifies dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die.
  • Works to tolerances as close as .001
  • Fits and assembles cam operated mechanisms for lateral movement of part of die
  • Dismantles die and repairs or replaces parts
