About The Position

The Tool & Die Repair Journeyman is responsible for completing die repair maintenance and improvements, and design changes safely, accurately, and on time. This role requires a high level of skill in maintaining and improving existing production tooling to meet quality standards. The position involves troubleshooting issues, fabricating production aids, managing inventory, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment. Effective communication with production control and manufacturing departments is crucial for quality and on-time delivery. A strong understanding of quality objectives and procedures is also necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Journeyman card with at least 8-10 years’ experience.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop equipment such as mills and surface grinders required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints and procedure manuals.
  • Has the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Must have the vision and dexterity to maneuver objects weighing up to 40lbs.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy die experience preferred.
  • Crane operating and lean manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Crane License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sharpen, inspect, and maintain existing production tooling to produce quality stampings that comply with Dennen standards and customer standards.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to current tooling.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with production tooling.
  • Fabricate production aids (chutes, simple gages, etc) for use on the floor.
  • Procurement and inventory control of items needed to maintain/repair dies.
  • Safely operate and maintain all equipment used in die shop.
  • Keep a clean and safe work environment following 5S standards.
  • Report all accidents and injuries.
  • Work assigned schedule.
  • Meet Attendance Requirements.
  • Complete all assigned work (including all necessary paperwork) safely, accurately and on time.
  • Relay all necessary information to production control and manufacturing departments to ensure quality and on time delivery of product.
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of all job related Quality Objectives, Quality System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.
  • Responsible for following work instructions for Kanban pull systems.
  • Follow established instructions and quality standards.
  • Responsible for the safety of self, teammates and product from damage and/or injury.
