About The Position

The Tool & Die Repair Journeyman is responsible for completing die repair maintenance and improvements, and design changes safely, accurately, and on time. This role requires a high level of skill in maintaining and improving existing production tooling to meet quality standards. The position involves troubleshooting issues, fabricating production aids, managing inventory, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment. Effective communication with production control and manufacturing departments is crucial for quality and on-time delivery. A strong understanding of quality objectives and procedures is also necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Journeyman card with at least 8-10 years’ experience.
Working knowledge of machine shop equipment such as mills and surface grinders required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints and procedure manuals.
Has the ability to write routine reports, correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Must have the vision and dexterity to maneuver objects weighing up to 40lbs.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

Heavy die experience preferred.
Crane operating and lean manufacturing experience a plus.
Crane License preferred

Responsibilities

Sharpen, inspect, and maintain existing production tooling to produce quality stampings that comply with Dennen standards and customer standards.
Suggest and implement improvements to current tooling.
Troubleshoot issues that arise with production tooling.
Fabricate production aids (chutes, simple gages, etc) for use on the floor.
Procurement and inventory control of items needed to maintain/repair dies.
Safely operate and maintain all equipment used in die shop.
Keep a clean and safe work environment following 5S standards.
Report all accidents and injuries.
Work assigned schedule.
Meet Attendance Requirements.
Complete all assigned work (including all necessary paperwork) safely, accurately and on time.
Relay all necessary information to production control and manufacturing departments to ensure quality and on time delivery of product.
Understand and have a working knowledge of all job related Quality Objectives, Quality System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.
Responsible for following work instructions for Kanban pull systems.
Follow established instructions and quality standards.
Responsible for the safety of self, teammates and product from damage and/or injury.
