About The Position

KEMET Electronics Corporation, a YAGEO Group company, is seeking a Tool and Die/Mechanical Technician in Simpsonville, SC. This role involves working with a small team of engineers and technicians to build original equipment designs and troubleshoot existing equipment. The company manufactures capacitors and other components for various critical industries including computing, telecommunications, medical, aerospace, defense, and automotive markets. Their components are integral to products ranging from spacecrafts to medical devices and everyday electronics.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field or 10 years of experience in precision machining/mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to read and create Mechanical drawings & BOMs.
  • Experience operating all manual Machine Shop equipment, including semi-automated Mills, Lathes, Surface Grinders, and Saws.
  • Some CNC experience is also helpful.
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers and plant personnel, both in face-to-face and remote conferencing.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, Power Point, & remote networking software such as Teams helpful.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Producing and installing quality one-off parts from drawings, using shop equipment from start to finish.
  • Assembly, start-up, troubleshooting, and installation of precision production and testing equipment, including aluminum extrusion assembly, automation components, and robotics.
  • Manufacturing solutions to problems that arise during the assembly process.
  • Working with Project Engineers to design, modify, or improve existing production equipment.
  • Developing a broad understanding of the equipment and technologies used to make Tantalum capacitors.
  • Working with external suppliers to evaluate and help design new equipment.
  • Occasionally traveling to production locations for installation, startup, and training.
