Analyzes specifications, sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate and repair injection molds, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. This role involves studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. The position also includes measuring, marking, and scribing dimensions, selecting and aligning fixtures and tools, calculating and setting machine controls, observing machine operation for malfunctions, verifying workpiece conformance, and fitting/assembling parts. Additionally, the role requires installing machined replacement parts and testing unit operation, developing specifications from general descriptions, and conferring with engineers and production personnel to resolve issues. A key responsibility includes utilizing a hand truck and/or operating a fork lift truck for internal transfer of hazardous materials within the facility.
