About The Position

The apprentice program involves approximately four years of training, which includes a minimum of 144 hours of college level technical courses and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training. Upon successful completion of the program, colleagues are certified by Autokiniton and the U.S. Department of Labor. Tool and Die Apprentices are required to rotate shifts. All classroom training is taken during unpaid time. All tuition and books are paid for at the expense of the company upon successful completion of the course. Apprentices are selected by the Apprentice Committee from among Autokiniton applicants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Mechanical Aptitude Testing

Responsibilities

  • Gain the knowledge and experience of a skilled trades associate in our tool room by going to our local college and combining that with daily on the job training.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to repair and make new components.
  • Fit and assembly parts to make and repair die
  • Analyze specifications
  • Use precision measuring and gaging tools to perform required inspection.
  • Tear down, repair and reassemble tooling in the press and on the bench.
