About The Position

As a Tool & Die Apprentice, you will participate in a Registered Apprenticeship Program (DOL Rapids Code 0296CB) designed to develop future toolmakers through a structured combination of on-the-job training and technical learning. Under direct supervision, you will assist in making, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in manufacturing operations. This role focuses on building foundational skills while learning safe and effective machining and troubleshooting practices. This role offers a progressive learning path, with skill development increasing over the course of the apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 0–1 years of related experience preferred
  • Interest in pursuing a skilled trade career through a Registered Apprenticeship
  • Comfort working with basic math concepts including fractions, decimals, geometry, and conversions
  • Basic knowledge of metal fabrication, tool repair, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and measurements accurately
  • Ability to read instructions, drawings, and work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to safely lift and move at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work in an industrial environment for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Learn to measure, inspect, and verify parts to specification
  • Assist with setting up and operating machining and tooling equipment
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
  • Support machining, grinding, and forming operations
  • Monitor equipment performance and report quality or safety issues
  • Assist with assembling, installing, and maintaining tools and fixtures
  • Support basic troubleshooting and repair of tooling and equipment
  • Participate in test runs to verify tooling and product quality
  • Communicate with manufacturing, engineering, and supervision teams
  • Follow all safety, apprenticeship, and environmental requirements
