About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Tool and Fixture Specialist to join our dynamic Manufacturing Team in Heath, Ohio! This role involves performing required tool set up, maintenance, inspection, and repairs. The specialist will manufacture assembly tools using appropriate precision tools and machinery, and operate various factory support equipment to move materials and tools. They will use precision equipment to build, maintain, and inspect tools, and provide tooling support to other organizations. The position also includes designing fabrication and assembly tools per part engineering drawings, demonstrating tool functionality by manufacturing the first part with a new tool, and resolving tool-related problems to produce acceptable parts and assemblies. Routine tool set up activities, minor repairs, and the manufacture, assembly, and fabrication of tools are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with tooling manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience in fabrication tooling
  • 5+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with the set-up, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of machine tools
  • Experience working with tool and cutter grinding processes, prototype development, or fabrication processes
  • Experience in fabrication tooling, working with tooling and tooling processes, or working in a tooling technical field

Responsibilities

  • Performs required tool set up, maintenance, inspection and repairs.
  • Manufactures assembly tools using appropriate precision tools and machinery.
  • Operates various factory support equipment to move materials and tools as required.
  • Uses appropriate precision equipment to build, maintain and inspect tools.
  • Provides tooling support to other organizations.
  • Designs various fabrication and assembly tools per part engineering drawings to enable tool fabrication using computer or paper tool design processes.
  • Demonstrates functionality of fabrication and assembly tools to approving authority by manufacturing first part with new tool.
  • Resolves problems with tool to produce acceptable parts and assemblies.
  • Performs routine tool set up activities.
  • Makes minor repairs.
  • Performs manufacture, assembly and fabrication of tools.
  • Assists in determining fabrication and assembly processes for the design.
  • Assists in reverse engineering design and fabrication processes for parts.
