About The Position

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture between Worthington Industries and Armstrong World Industries, is a leader in the production of suspended ceiling systems, manufacturing metal ceiling grids. Founded in 1992, WAVE operates under a philosophy rooted in the golden rule, fostering a strong employee-employer partnership. WAVE is seeking a Tool and Die Machinist to join a hands-on toolroom where they will build, machine, and maintain precision tooling that directly supports production. This role is suitable for candidates progressing from junior-level skills to a fully independent machinist role.

Requirements

  • 2–7 years machining or tool & die experience (or trade school + shop experience)
  • Working knowledge of milling, grinding, and machining processes
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to grow
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
  • Background check required

Nice To Haves

  • CNC setup or editing experience
  • Toolroom or production support background
  • Experience with tight-tolerance work
  • Grinding experience preferred. (Surface, I.D/O.D and form grinding)

Responsibilities

  • Machine and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
  • Operate manual and CNC equipment (mills, grinders, lathes)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Perform part fitting, assembly, and adjustments
  • Hold tight tolerances (±.0005” or better)
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Support tooling improvements and production uptime
