About The Position

The Toddler Classroom Teacher will work with a team to complete clear documentation and written reports that facilitate communication with parents, co-workers, and regulatory agents. This includes daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, and professional development plans. The teacher will use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable, and engaged, and will integrate family requests and traditions into the classroom, providing non-judgmental support and responding quickly to parent concerns. The role involves assessing each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and information from families and stakeholders, and collaborating to communicate this information with the classroom team. Assessment information will be linked with success-oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains. The teacher must maintain knowledge of and compliance with NAEYC code of ethics, city and state regulations, and accreditation requirements governing early education and care programs. They will also accurately complete required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation, follow food service rules, and attend necessary training. Participation in improving organizational performance through recommending areas for improvement, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input is expected. The teacher will work with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies. Collaboration with the team is essential for planning, implementing, and communicating age-appropriate activities that facilitate the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of assigned children. Providing responsive, developmentally appropriate care for guiding children's behavior and engagement, such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control, is a key responsibility. Maintaining and demonstrating high-level knowledge of child development and evidence-based practice is also required. The role includes providing care and supervision of children in a child care or classroom setting.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
1+ year of work experience in a related job discipline
