Montessori Toddler Assistant Teacher
About The Position
Join the warm and supportive teaching team at Cantera Montessori in Georgetown! We are seeking a caring, dependable Toddler Assistant Teacher who enjoys working with young children and wants to make a meaningful difference during this important stage of development. Montessori experience is not required. If you bring patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with toddlers, we will help you learn and grow as an educator. Our Toddler Community serves 15 children between 18 months and 2.5 years old with a team of three educators: one Lead Teacher and two Assistant Teachers. This supportive 1:5 teacher-to-child ratio allows our teachers to build meaningful relationships with each child and provide thoughtful, individualized care.
Requirements
- Love working with toddlers and celebrating their daily discoveries
- Are patient, attentive, dependable, and caring
- Enjoy being active and engaged throughout the day
- Work well as part of a collaborative teaching team
- Are eager to learn more about child development and Montessori education
- Have previous childcare, preschool, daycare, nannying, or early childhood experience—or a strong desire to begin a career working with young children
Nice To Haves
- Montessori experience is not required.
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
- Help toddlers build independence through everyday routines
- Support children’s social and emotional development
- Guide children with patience through transitions and big feelings
- Encourage language, movement, curiosity, and hands-on learning
- Participate in activities such as art, cooking, gardening, music, and early STEM exploration
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow teachers
- Help maintain a clean, calm, and organized classroom
