About The Position

Responsible for independently performing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment sessions, assist physician with Motor Threshold session, assigned patient care and related administrative duties under the direct supervision of the physician(s). Performs a variety of office/clerical duties as assigned by the practice manager. Specific patient care responsibilities will be assigned by the supervision physician after competency is established. Requirements

  • Certification Program in accredited medical assistant program
  • Six (6) months of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation procedure experience
  • Certification in one or more of the following: Certified Medical Assistant from the American Assoc of Medical Assistants, OR South Carolina LPN license, OR Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clinical, technical, administrative, and clerical duties as directed by the practice manager and physician and within the scope of training and certification, including point of care testing.
  • Assists physician in initial Motor Threshold procedure.
  • Report critical lab values to the physician.
  • Performs TMS Sessions independently for 25 to 35 sessions per patient.
  • Prepares treatment rooms.
  • Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
  • Obtains and records patients' chief complaints, current medications, vital signs, pain screening, PHQ9 screening, and allergies, medical and social histories.
  • Documents treatment in the patient's record.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and participate in ongoing process improvement activities including regular team meetings with providers and staff.
  • Promotes team spirit with co-workers.
  • Teaches patient and provide printed information, on physician request, about diagnosis, self-care within the scope of assigned duties, health promotion, disease prevention, and community healthcare resources. Patient education must be documented in the medical record.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and provider.
  • Receives and returns clinically related telephone calls after communicating with physician regarding medical concerns of the patient.
  • Transmits physician medication orders to pharmacy, as governed by state law.
  • Completes medical insurance and other related forms for physician review.
  • Communicates as needed with the patient, referral source, and payor between visits.
  • Completes patient registration, scheduling, and billing tasks, and perform general office/clerical duties as assigned.
  • Schedules tests and treatment as ordered by the physician.
  • Completes patient authorizations and precertification.
  • Obtains pre-payment and set payment plan for services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
