About The Position

The Regional Team Specialist (RTS) is a teacher who, in addition to providing high-quality instruction in their own classroom, amplifies their impact by facilitating collaborative time for a cohort of teachers in developing their ability to deliver joyful, rigorous and personalized instruction that leads to high achievement. The RTS leads a group of teachers in an aligned content area across multiple schools who may not otherwise have opportunities to collaborate in similar content or focus areas. This may include teachers in Beyond the Common Core subject areas, and others who teach unique content areas in their respective buildings. The RTS leads and facilitates professional learning sessions during three Central DPS Teal Days and fulfills one additional leadership responsibility to support teacher learning in their content area. Teal Day sessions focus on best practices in assessment literacy and instructional pedagogy, particularly using student work to drive the Student Learning Objectives (SLO) process and Data Driven Instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Must meet all licensure and certification requirements for teacher role in the District.
  • Must hold a District teacher position that is evaluated through LEAP and responsible for student outcomes in Infinite Campus by time of service (e.g. must be hired into a teaching role in order to be hired into a Regional Team Specialist role).
  • Must participate in required training over the summer and during the school year.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Builds the capacity of a team of teachers in the same (or similar) content area, developing a culture of continuous learning that maximizes staff and student morale and performance, through facilitation of collaborative time at three Teal Days (three eight-hour sessions).
  • Works with Content Coordinators and Curriculum & Instruction Partners to ensure that expectations, processes, and objectives for collaborative time are aligned with team, school, and district goals.
  • Fulfills one additional leadership function to support teacher learning within their content area.
  • Develop and maintain online resources for teachers (shared drive, website, Schoology group, etc.)
  • Lead an online PLC or discussion group that occurs in months when teachers do not meet in-person.
  • Collaborate with Content Coordinator/Specialist to plan and facilitate two PL sessions that occur outside of the RTS-supported Teal Days.
  • Lead a PDU for a minimum of 10 participants in the content area (PDU subject to DPS approval; RTS must apply to be a PDU leader and be accepted to receive additional leader stipend).
  • Collaborate with Content Coordinator/Specialist to plan and facilitate two Learning Labs per semester.
  • Collaborate with Content Coordinator/Specialist to plan and support Citywide events (Music RTSs).
  • Prepare and present at DPS Tech Summit (Ed Tech/Library RTSs)
  • Lead Career Connect Industry Summits, partnering teachers to related industry professionals and facilitating meaningful collaborative time (CareerConnect RTSs).
