About The Position

Properly trained paraprofessionals can play essential roles in improving student achievement in schools where they can reinforce and enhance a teacher's effort in the classroom. The Instructional Assistant will work on literacy interventions with students at Lincoln Elementary under the direct supervision of the Literacy & Instructional Support Specialist. A primary responsibility includes pulling students out to work with them in small groups focused on foundational literacy skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrates a desire to aid all students
  • Applicant has to be 18 years old to be considered a Full Time employee
  • Possesses knowledge and skill sufficient to assist participants in meeting content and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Pull students out of the main classroom setting for focused, small-group instruction on foundational literacy skills, as directed by the Literacy & Instructional Support Specialist.
  • Maintain individual records for identified students.
  • Support and implement all policies and regulations as designed by each respective school and NLCS.
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of classroom teachers.
  • Is positive in working with identified children and helps build their self-esteem.
  • Has the ability to make use of a variety of resources to assist identified students in meeting their goals.
