About The Position

Central York School District (CYSD) has an opportunity for a Title I Instructional Assistant to join North Hills Elementary School. The Title I Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide targeted instructional support in small groups or one-on-one settings, focusing on reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services. The ideal candidates are patient, flexible, and passionate about helping students succeed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required: Possess an associate's degree or higher
  • Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required: Have completed two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits)
  • Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required: Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the local assessment
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and have good communication skills
  • Must have (or willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies, as assigned.
  • Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
  • Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment and climate conductive to learning.
  • Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
  • Maintain inventory of Title I materials, including the duplication of appropriate resources.
  • Help maintain Title I records.
  • Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice as needed.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom climate, which fosters understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
  • Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.
