The Title Clerk is responsible for processing all title and tax documents for new and used vehicle sales. This role involves preparing payoff checks, managing floor plan transactions, and ensuring all funds are collected and lien holders are paid before processing title applications. The Title Clerk will also bill out dealer trades, prepare Certificates of Origin, and maintain a comprehensive list of outstanding title work, reporting any issues to management. Additionally, this position handles customer inquiries regarding titles and registrations, stays updated on title regulations, and conducts training sessions for staff. The Title Clerk will also cross-train colleagues and direct the title runner's daily activities, assisting with monthly inventory and floor plan reconciliations.
