About The Position

This role involves working the Weekend day shift from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, Friday through Sunday. Training will be conducted on day shift, Monday through Friday. Upon starting the regular shift, employees will work 36 hours and be paid for 40 hours. The primary responsibilities include reviewing inspection paperwork, grinding and blending defect areas on castings, and blending welds to blueprint tolerances. This also involves removing surface and blind cavity defects using various tools, blending and reworking repaired areas to specified tolerances, and potentially using a hand-held sandblaster. Verifying dimensional compliance with micrometers, calipers, and ultrasonic testing devices is crucial. The role also includes performing fluorescent penetrant inspection tests, completing logs and records, providing work direction and training to other grinders, and adhering to all plant and department safety rules. Safely operating equipment and tools, identifying and reporting safety problems, and potentially handling hazardous waste are also key aspects of the job.
