About The Position

Tissue Recovery Technicians contribute to ConnectLife's mission of inspiring donation and connecting lives through the recovery of anatomical gifts. One tissue donor can enhance the lives of more than 75 people. This hands-on, mission-driven role offers paid, on-the-job training. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.
Must be able to supervise, delegate, coach and motivate staff in a collaborative team environment.
Proficiency in data entry required.
Must be adaptable to change, detail oriented, and highly organized with the ability to think critically and multi-task while maintaining focus and accuracy through interruptions.
Must be self-motivated and reliable with a professional appearance and demeanor.
Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Travel and On-Call required.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree or higher in related field desired.
Experience in healthcare/medical field, or one year of hospital experience in a clinical area, or one year eye banking experience, or one year tissue banking experience preferred.
Managerial or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge in anatomy and physiology strongly preferred.
Medical terminology and/or familiarity with medical diagnosis, medical record review strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead the recovery team through all recovery related activities.
Recover musculoskeletal, ocular (when applicable), cardiovascular, skin, and other tissue as required.
Responsible for suitability determination of donor, aseptic surgical tissue recovery, packaging at recovery and shipping post-recovery (if applicable).
Complete donor charts following recovery.
Communicates organizational needs, manages workflow of staff, and provides guidance and support as needed.
Guides the recovery team and all recovery related activities at the recovery location of the donation.
Report all case irregularities to management team.
Communicate with hospital staff, medical examiners, county coroner’s, funeral directors, and other internal/external entities as they pertain to case related activities in order to address and resolve any issues, concerns, or questions identified to facilitate the recovery of tissue donations in a timely manner.
Oversee and perform tissue and eye recovery activities from pre-recovery activities to recovery to packaging through shipping.
Perform a review of all available donor records (Med/Soc., Medical chart, etc.) and a physical assessment of the donor to determine the suitability of the donor for recovery.
Enter all necessary case related information into the donor electronic medical record system.
Ensure compliance with AATB, EBAA, State, Federal, and ConnectLife standards for eye and tissue recovery.
Ensure proper reconstruction of the donor following eye and tissue recovery.
Perform in office clinical related tasks as required (sterilization of instruments inventory and supply etc.).
Make a proactive effort to stay informed and up to date regarding policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Attend all required meetings and complete all required trainings timely.
