New England Donor Services is hiring a Tissue Recovery Specialist to join a professional surgical team whose mission is to save and heal lives through tissue donation. The role includes paid, hands-on training to aseptically recover bones, skin, veins, corneas, heart-for-valves, and other tissues from deceased donors. The work supports recipients including children needing heart valve transplants, breast cancer survivors, and people with corneal blindness. The position is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, and involves travel throughout New England in NEDS vehicles. Employees must live within a reasonable driving distance of Waltham and use a personal vehicle to meet job duties. Travel may include long periods of driving and possible trips in a small aircraft. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week, arranged in two shifts that run for 12 weeks at a time: day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or evening shifts from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Employees have every other weekend off. Additional mandatory training and meetings are required. Hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek are subject to the standard 1.5 overtime calculation. The successful candidate is positive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, disciplined, adaptable, independent, team-oriented, and mission-driven, with the stamina to succeed in an intense clinical setting. The role requires critical thinking, multitasking, following standard operating procedures, managing multiple systems and computer applications, and adapting to variable working conditions. Candidates with EMT, paramedic, ER technician, OR technician, or surgical technician backgrounds are encouraged to apply. New England Donor Services is interviewing for a Fall 2026 new-hire orientation class.
