About The Position

The test technician position is responsible for performing various tasks such as tire tests, tire mounting, shipping, cutting, buffing and both indoor and outdoor tire tests without assistance. The test technician will assist the Test Engineers in data collection, entry and reporting for indoor and outdoor tests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • A minimum of 2 years of tire testing or equivalent experience is required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work well in a group and follow supervision.
  • Strong Technical Competence.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the daily test plan set by the Test Technician Supervisor.
  • Set-up and execute static tire tests such as dimensional analysis, tire footprints and static tire characteristics.
  • Capable of setting up and executing tests on various dynamic indoor equipment such as high-speed uniformity, rolling resistance, flat spot, tire wear and tire durability.
  • Execute the calibration and preventative maintenance plans for all tire test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Complete all equipment correlation and control checks for static and dynamic test equipment per frequency set by relevant quality standards.
  • Support all on-vehicle tests by changing tire sets during an evaluation. These tasks include recording test results, setting up evaluation courses and loading and unloading assemblies from work truck.
  • Able to travel to support on-vehicle tests throughout the country at various proving grounds and tracks up to 25% of the time.
  • Assist the warehouse technician with all warehouse processes to include the following: receiving all inbound tire and wheel shipments, adding tires to inventory database, storing tires in physical warehouse racks and preparing tires for shipments.
  • Prepare tires for all indoor, outdoor and vendor tests. These tasks include properly pulling tires and rims from inventory, updating inventory database, mounting and balancing tires.
  • Capable to set-up instrumentation in vehicles for objective stopping distance, acceleration, braking and cornering tests.
  • Prepare tire sections and perform tire section analysis measurements. Preparation requires cutting tires on band saw and using pedestal grinder to buff the sections. Analysis consists of both measurements and judgement criteria that will be entered on test report.
  • Perform all tests and work in a safe and organized manner, following all safety and housekeeping guidelines.
