About The Position

R+L Carriers is hiring a Tire Mechanic for its Kansas City, Missouri Service Center. Mechanics change and repair tires on Class 8 fleet vehicles and perform tire maintenance. The role may also include other duties as requested by management. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, and pays up to $28.05 per hour. Employees earn one week of vacation after 90 days of employment.

Requirements

At least one year of commercial tire experience.
Ability to lift up to 125 pounds.
Ability to stand on concrete for extended periods.
Current operator's license and ability to operate a service truck and perform road service calls.
Basic knowledge of tire D.O.T. information and out-of-service criteria.
Ability to identify retread versus new tires, wheel types, and proper fasteners.
Ability to operate a 1-inch air wrench and basic hand tools.
Ability to properly tighten all types of wheels and repair tractor-trailer tires to company standards.
Clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Change, repair, and maintain tractor-trailer tires on Class 8 fleet vehicles.
Mount and dismount truck and car tires.
Operate an off-truck and on-truck balancer.
Operate a service truck and perform road service calls.
Identify tire Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) information and basic out-of-service criteria.
Distinguish retread tires from new tires and identify wheel types and their proper fasteners.
Operate a 1-inch air wrench and basic hand tools.
Properly tighten different types of wheels.
Repair tractor-trailer tires to company standards.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
