Tire and Lube Technician
About The Position
Gills Point S is seeking a Tire & Lube Technician to perform tire services, preventative maintenance, and light mechanical repairs while providing excellent customer service. The technician inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles and helps ensure they are safe and performing properly. The role also includes explaining inspection findings and recommendations, documenting service, and helping maintain inventory and an organized work environment. The position requires working inside the shop and outdoors in varying weather conditions, following company safety policies, and safely operating shop equipment. Physical duties include frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 75 pounds. TIA certification is not required at hire; the company provides training and support toward certification and career advancement.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Familiarity with tire mounting, balancing, and repair equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift heavy tires and equipment and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Able to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Able to work inside the shop and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Automotive, tire, or mechanical experience preferred.
- Technical or vocational automotive training is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Mount, dismount, balance, rotate, and repair passenger and light truck tires.
- Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation; recommend replacement and maintenance based on vehicle condition.
- Perform TPMS service and work with wheel configurations, bolt patterns, valve stems, and tire specifications.
- Perform oil and filter changes; inspect and top off vehicle fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid.
- Perform coolant, brake, and transmission fluid exchanges.
- Replace air, cabin, and fuel filters.
- Complete vehicle inspections and communicate findings.
- Perform light mechanical repairs and replacements, including brakes, suspension and steering components, wiper blades, batteries, headlights, and taillights.
- Recognize dashboard warning indicators and identify potential maintenance concerns.
- Greet customers professionally and understand their service needs.
- Explain inspection findings and maintenance recommendations to customers.
- Maintain accurate service documentation.
- Assist with inventory and receiving, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Follow company safety policies and safely operate shop equipment.
